Shortly before the New Year on December 12th, the JFS Children’s Clothing Closet launched our Ready-to-Wear program to some of the most vulnerable families at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. Our Ready-to-Wear program works with families in the community to provide clothing items specifically catered to their children’s sizes and needs. For this first distribution 25 families – around 50 children – were given winter clothing, including coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, pants, winter pajamas, and snow boots. This clothing was distributed in individual packages based on order forms that were submitted by the families.

We thank our community partners for the donations of clothing and our volunteers, including JFS of Metrowest board members and volunteers from our Syrian Humanitarian Project who made this first distribution possible. With the stress and burden of paying for winter clothing lifted, these families were able to set aside more resources to provide for their families and prepare for the holiday season.

The JFS Children’s Clothing Closet looks forward to additional Ready-to-Wear Distribution events and is preparing for the spring by collecting spring clothes and new footwear.
